Cookie policy – Cricket betting
Only a handful of technical tools run behind the cricket odds pages of Cricket betting. This policy lists them, gives their purpose and describes how a visitor can refuse or adjust them. Cookies are small text files stored by a browser on a device; entries in local or session storage and counting pixels behave in a similar way and are treated alike.
Strictly necessary files
Some files are needed for the site to function. They keep a session open, share load between servers, guard forms against abuse and store the cookie choice itself. Because the service could not run reliably without them, they are set with no separate choice. Session files vanish when the browser closes, and the stored choice lasts at most twelve months.
Files set only after consent
Functional files remember settings, for example the odds table opened last. Analytics files count page views and show which pages are read, which helps improve the content. Both groups wait for consent given in the cookie banner. IP addresses are shortened before analysis, and no profile following behaviour across other sites is built.
Outside services
Embedded videos or maps from outside providers may set files of their own. The provider’s privacy rules then apply as well, and objections to those files go to the provider. Cricket betting sets no advertising cookies for personalised ads without a clear choice in the banner.
What the law requires
The governing rule is regulation 6 of the Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations 2003 (PECR). Storing information on a user’s device, or gaining access to information already there, needs clear and comprehensive information and the user’s consent, unless the storage is strictly necessary to provide a service the user asked for. Consent must meet the UK GDPR standard (Article 4(11) and Article 7): freely given, specific, informed, unambiguous, and as easy to withdraw as to give. Where cookies involve personal data, the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 apply too.
Changing or withdrawing consent
The “Cookie settings” link in the footer opens the choice again at any time. Withdrawal works for the future and leaves earlier processing lawful. Browsers also allow cookies to be blocked and deleted in their privacy settings. Once the necessary files are deleted, the banner returns and some features may briefly stop working.
Complaints
A complaint about the handling of personal data can go to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK’s supervisory authority. How personal data is processed is set out in the privacy policy of this site.
