Privacy policy – Cricket betting

Running an information site about cricket and other betting needs very little personal data, and Cricket betting processes only that. The UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 apply, and this text discharges the duty to inform under Article 13 of the UK GDPR.

Who is responsible

The controller under Article 4(7) UK GDPR is the body running Cricket betting. Name, address and e-mail address are available at cricketoddsuk.com, which is also the channel for any question about personal data.

Data the site handles

Every page request produces a server log entry: IP address, date and time, requested address, volume of data sent, referring page and browser type. Logs serve security and the detection of abuse; after 90 days they are deleted or shortened until they no longer point to a person. A visitor who writes to the editors supplies a name, an e-mail address and the message, used only to reply. The site has no reader accounts, deposits or bets, so payment details and identity documents are never collected.

Why the data is used and on what basis

Server logs and protection against abuse rest on legitimate interests in keeping the site working and secure (Article 6(1)(f) UK GDPR), and so does answering a message. Cookies beyond the strictly necessary, and audience measurement, depend on consent (Article 6(1)(a) UK GDPR together with regulation 6 of PECR) and start only once it is given. Consent can be withdrawn at any time without affecting earlier processing (Article 7(3)). No automated decision-making or profiling takes place.

Who receives the data

Nothing is sold. Recipients are processors working on the controller’s instructions for hosting, content delivery and e-mail (Article 28 UK GDPR), and public authorities where the law demands. Data leaves the United Kingdom only for a country covered by adequacy regulations or under appropriate safeguards such as the International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum (Article 44 onwards).

Rights of individuals

Each person may ask for access (Article 15), rectification (Article 16), erasure (Article 17), restriction (Article 18) and portability (Article 20), and may object to processing based on legitimate interests (Article 21). A request is answered without undue delay and within one month of receipt, extendable by a further two months where needed (Article 12(3)).

How long data is kept

Server logs stay for 90 days at most; correspondence stays until the matter is closed and as long as defence against possible claims requires. A message is sent voluntarily, but without the data no reply can be given.

Supervisory authority

The Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) supervises data protection in the UK. Anyone who considers that the processing of their data breaches the law may complain to it (Article 77 UK GDPR).
